do you consider the ones you left behind in the organization as brothers and sisters?.

the ones who don't shun me are my brothers and sisters!

I consider all people as part of the one whole of which I am center from my own perspective... I always seek to remember that they are a part of me and any emotions I feel for them is held within me and can harm me if negative more than it may harm them.

I find many forget very quickly what they would have done if they had stayed inside... they would have shunned as easily as they are being shunned. After all, we do have the concept of though love in the NON-JW world which has shown sucess and active JWs are CONvincED that they are doing just that. I recall hearing how we, as JWs had the BEST friends in the world because they had been hand picked by Jehovah. [read WT].

Lets face it, we love most those who reflect the qualities we admire in ourselves and want for ourselves and shun those who violate them...even to the point of desiring their destruction at extremes.[ie HATE=murder]

If you, as a JW were paying attention, you knew what would happen to you if you left, why feel it is unfair now when you probably agreed with it then?

A Comparison with an Abuser

me and quotes were talking about rehabing child abusers and he had a great comparison that made me think.

here goes................. he compared it to us guys in general and said ok beans what if someone told you that you couldn't look at hot chicks ever again and were banned from talking to them forever and were to have no contact what so ever again, could you do it?.

i said, no way, impossible!.

But Zen how do you make being caught worth while? every criminals scheme is not to be caught doing what they want and need!

there are always two sorts of gamblers and in that sense criminals too.... a good gambler wins and loses, a bad, or addicted gambler never loses, they just ALMOST WON.... and with criminals there are always the ones who take into account getting caught and the consequences...

if I were to commit any crime I would be cognizant of the consequences of being caught.... for example, take credit card fraud. if I learn that the penalty is more for fraud over a certain amount, I am likely to stay just under that amount... like the difference between misdermenor and felony.... but if the penality is identical no matter what amount I defraud, why should I care and not go for all I can get?

in the case of a pedophile, just one wrong touch can get him the very same consequences of a 1000 victims, there is no motivation for him to stop once he has committed his first offense, no reason not to continue as long as he does not get caught since the stakes are the same in the end.

then there is also this....

from a pedophiles point of view.... they are told there is no cure, that they are worse then murderers that if caught even prisoners will likely try to murder them.... they have no incentive to turn themselves in and seek help because they are told that no such thing exists... they are made to feel like a werewolf or a vampire for which the only cure is a stake through the heart. This can lead them directly to the most heinous of crimes because of their belief that they will be punished just as bad for a small crime as a larger one, so why not go for the larger and make being caught worth it?

not all pedophiles are dangerous people, they are like everyone else, found on a continuum from those who can handle their problem to those who are likely to murder others, but making them all feel alike can cause the ones in the middle to move to the extreme.

it is rare to see anyone say anything even remotely caring about people who can often be victims from previous events which have caused them to feel like they are out of control and victims themselves of a hideious addiction which is far worse than most others known to men.

We are all basically gamblers... the interesting thing is that one can take a string of complete failure and believe that he will never win, while another takes the very same failures as proof that his time to win is getting closer.

Faith is essentially a gamble on the possible above and beyond the knowable.... just because everything is dark, does not mean it will not get light again... just because it was once light does not mean it will ever get light again, etc.

Faith can help us overcome our string of bad luck, but it can also be used against us... a con artist wants us to gamble on the unknown because he has nothing but talk... but a good teacher wants the very same thing because he knows that the past is not a good predictor of the future.... so gamble we must and gamble we do... best to gamble with best information we can gather rather than simply take others word for things.

Thugs and gangster are often playing with lives and thus gambling highstakes....its can make one feel very alive to live on the edge...but when they lose, they often lose it all.

Have you commited the unforgivable sin?

the ultimate taboo of being a jw is the unforgivable sin, a direct action of going against the leadings of the holy spirit.

did this used to bother you, and do you think you are seen by jw's as having committed it?

for instance, is apostasy the only occurance of it, or in you opinion would it include adultery etc.

Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men

From the context surrounding this verse, Jesus seems to be saying that the pharisees KNEW it was God's spirit at work yet damned it....

I once believed that the bible god was real and that Jesus was a real person, but I never Knew it and when I searched for factual evidence I found nothing by mythology and legends... I do not damn anything, I see the perfection of reality as I find it, some times (^_^).

I believe that religion is a snare and a racket, and I just add JWs to that list is all.

the last sentence in paragraph 14, chapter 4 in the new book being studied, " worship the only true god.".

"our faith will be evident from the conviction with which we tell others about this magnificent gift from god.".

it seems to me that a better thought would be, "our faith will be evident from the way we live our life and the way we treat our fellow man.".

if you notice most of religion is about making seemingly valid excuses why the evidence is not there for you to examine.

galatians opens with the direction to not listen to opposing religious views.

it goes so far as to say that even if they (ostensibly paul and his party) or an angel from heaven presents another opinion, they must refuse to listen even then condemning the messenger as an enemy.

ironically this very obstinance is condemned among the jews in the bible, when they supposedly refused to listen to the new direction from the christians,jesus and even the angels who according to the story announced this new faith's arrival.

So everytime the society changes its mind or tune, JWs should consider them enemies...but that is not how they tell it, is it? they tell everyone that they are being guided by God to NEW light all the time...very interesting. It seems that Paul's view is that NEW LIGHT is from the ANGEL OF LIGHT otherwise known as the Devil (^_^)

get special revelations from god today.".

if they answer "yes," then they are going against the bible which says that all scripture is complete.. if the say "no," then we can say, "then why do you say we should follow you.".

How are the ANNOINTED, filled with the spirit of God? are they REALLY annointed or self appointed? if really annointed, how is it that they do not have direct guidence from God or direct inspiration?

How do they know they ARE annointed?

If even the women and children were allowed to remain, they would entice the Israelites to practice immoral, false worship.?Ex. 23:24; 34:12-17; Num. 33:52; Deut. 7:3-5; 20:16-18.

The problem is that Moses let them keep the young girls alive for sex slaves or wifes, etc....what sort of immoral practices was Moses worried his MEN would do with the little boys, one wonders?
